JOHN GOLD THE CRUSADER was born 1195 in Devonshire, England but settled in Seaborough. (lineage).


RICHARD GOLD (12th generation) was born 1620 in Devonshire, England and immigrated to America in 1651 with his family, including his son CHRISTOPHER GOLD.

THOMAS GOLD was the son of CHRISTOPHER GOLD and was born in 1678, in Meckleburg County, Virginia. He had a son named DANIEL GOLD (Sr) who left a will noting an African family: Jerry, his wife Han, and her children named Clem, David and Amy.

DANIEL GOLD (Jr) had a son named JAMES MILTON GOLD (18th generation) who was born October 10, 1802 in Rutherford County, North Carolina and later settled in Cleveland County, North Carolina.

WILLIAM MILTON GOLD, was born on September 17, 1853, in Cleveland County, North Carolina.

One of your indirect relatives, JOHN B. GOLD served in the Civil War. He joined  on the 20th of June 1861 in Clarksville, Virginia the Company G (2nd) 38th  Virginia Infantry under General Lewis A. Armistead. He served in the infantry from  6-20-1861 until he transferred to the 14th Virginia infantry on 6-27-62. On 1-2-1864 when he was detailed as a teamster for General Armistead. He served with General Armistead until he surrendered at Appomattox on 4-9-1865 with General Robert E. Lee.  On a family reunion visit to Cleveland County, Dad recalls reading a great many tombstones from men in your direct lineage who were all killed at the Battle of Malvern Hill.



JOHN MILTON GOLD  was born on March 8, 1869, in Cleveland County, North Carolina.  He had a son, JOHN MILTON GOLD (Jr) who was born on October 12, 1908, in Cleveland County, North Carolina.

JOHN MILTON GOLD (Jr) was your Great-Grandfather!  He was a Wake Forest University basketball star and the Chief of Police and City Manager in Winston-Salem, North Carolina during the 1960's and 1970's.
